pinklady09 @eleyel I apologize for not getting back to you last evening. There are 3 buckles for the main compartment however it has a zipper as well therefore the buckles are actually not necessary to have closed in order to keep your items securely when inside. In my opinion, the buckles are more of a "fashion" detail which you can choose to use or leave unbuckled! The approximate dimensions you requested are as follows: 17" in height, 11-12" width, 6.5" deep from front to back. This bag is an Oakley design from Spring 2013, looks practically new, has small slip pockets as well as enclosed ones and a spot specifically to keep your smart phone or iPod safe and easily accessible. Please let me know what you decide.
