SMART 1950s' GREEN FELT HAT WITH BOW, FEATHERS & VEILING

This is a very elegant green felt hat from the 1950s'. The round crown is almost completely covered with chartreuse and orange feathers. It is surrounded by a medium width brim, which is turned up at the back and attached with a felt circle made from a narrow band made from the same green felt. A large felt bow is attached by the "button". A piece of green veiling attached at the back finishes the look. The veil is not large, and is not intended to cover the face. There is a large comb and an elastic band attached to the inside front to help keep the hat in position. Hair combs were very popular in 1950's hats. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
