SIGNED Antique E.L. Spencer Company Angel Skin Coral Cameo Brooch/Pendant 10K Gold, Seed Pearls, Signed
Bright, elegant, this cameo belonged to my Grandma Blanche (Dad's mom) and was a favorite. This brooch/pin/pendant is an exquisite example of early 20th-century American craftsmanship. Hand-carved from genuine angel skin coral, this piece was often admired, but rarely worn.
The classic female profile is set in a 10K yellow gold frame adorned with a delicate twisted border of seed pearls, a signature detail of the era’s romantic style. The piece is dual-purpose, with a hinged C clasp and top bail, allowing it to be worn as a pin or on your chain. THIS CHAIN NOT INCLUDED.
Stamped with the maker’s mark — a heart enclosing an “S” — this piece is attributed to E.L. Spencer Co., a respected New England jewelry manufacturer known for fine coral and gold pieces at the turn of the century.
Material: Angel skin coral, seed pearls
Metal: 10K yellow gold
Weight: 5 grams
Dimensions: measures approx 1" tall x 7/8" wide x 1/2" thick, including pin bar.
Maker: E.L. Spencer Co. (signature S-in-a-heart maker’s mark)
Era: Edwardian, circa 1900
Style: Convertible pin with locking C clasp, and swing-up bail for chain
Condition: Excellent antique condition
AI suggests an association with Flora (goddess of flowers) or Demeter/Ceres (goddess of the harvest), but ?? "Anonymous beauty" was a popular motif, meant more to evoke elegance and virtue than depict a real or mythological person.
