Hello! I work in SEO (search engine optimization) marketing, and have been Posh'n for a few years now, plus some on the eBay front.
I've noticed a lot of "stuck" listings for great items that just can't seem to make the sale. On top of reconsidering your pricing, here's are some points to target those kinds of listings, and improve your listing skillz as a whole. 🍻
Feel free to pass these along!

do you feel it's worth the effort to properly name image files for SEO or does PM just change the file name to a random number anyway?
Nov 03Reply

cali4niasian
@rubyslipper1 that’s a great question! I have to imagine that the file names of photos aren’t really taken into account. most people are uploading from mobile, and renaming mobile images is not straightforward for all OS. Plus there are so many simple text fields that would be more straightforward signals.
(And my apologies for the delay! It seems my original response from days ago never posted 🤦🏻♀️)

rubyslipper1
@cali4niasian Thanks! I did some testing and from what I can tell via the page code is that PM is renaming image files anyway (likely during the compression process) so while it definitely helps SEO on other platforms... PM is not worth the effort.

Is it overstepping to ask you to critique my closet? You obviously are really good at this as this was the first thing that pops up on google "Poshmark seo" !

@dalaarose i didn’t get a response, but that is totally ok! Are you asking your advice question to me or the original poster?

Anne thank you so much for the advice! I too Google how to get your listing to come up on Google and this was first to come up. 😁 Could I also ask you to look at my closet and see if I have mine correct? I sell only Fire Opal Jewelry and I have most listed as such. Thank you for your help 🤗

@cali4niasian this is great and you’re obviously really good at what you do judging by the fact that everyone on here, including me, came from a google search! Do you work for a company or do freelance seo work?

I too would love to have my closet evaluated. I have lowers so many of my prices, but since the shipping fees keep hiking up it’s making purchases harder to come by. I always wondered if editing my listing every few days will help. Even if it’s just a word or 2 in the description or moving the picture around so that here is something changed.

Help me too! My closet items don’t even show if you search by the brand on the app. So if I search Burberry my post doesn’t even come up.

@delfinaalden hi! I do internal SEO work for a publishing company :) that you found this post so easily is great! It is an ideal example of how the simple stuff (like a straightforward title!) can affect results. But it is also a testament to how well poshmark stands in Google’s “books” (ie Google’s search algorithm). Try looking up a lesser known (or even discontinued!) brand. It often returns PM results!
I’m out on vacation right now but I’ll try to get this post updated when I get back! :)

For those asking for individualized tips... I’m sorry but I cannot do that. Please understand that SEO is my job; this is my career and my livelihood. There are also no proper mediums on this platform to relay SEO suggestions that wouldn’t make my work and our communications public. I’ll try, when I update this post, to consider your closets as I give tips; however I won’t be able to give you each individualized feedback.

@akipeed I had the same problem figured it out take your size out of your profile. With your size in your rofile when you search a brand it looks for your size only.

Great information. I have seen lots of my items on the first page of google so I must be doing something right. I am always looking to learn more to help my poshmark listings. @lisalisamm

Very helpful. What if I don’t want people googling my name to see my poshmark but I do want people googling my items to find them?

Thank you for the tips! It's so thoughtful of you to do this and much appreciated. Apparently perfect because it was the second listing in my research on SEO. I'm working on rewriting my listings so this information has been invaluable 🙂

What are your thoughts on using 'filler' words in the title. For example, is it better to write the title as "J. Crew Black and White Sweater" or J. Crew Black White Sweater?

Does a search come from the title of the item or the description of the item on Poshmark?
