SEDUCTIVE 1940s' NAVY WIDE BRIM HAT + PURPLE GROSGRAIN TRIM & OSTRICH FEATHER

This is a most beautiful, large hat from the extravagant high fashions of the 1940s'! It is made of navy felt, and it consists of a flat top, round crown surrounded by a wide, upturned brim. The brim has a narrow purple grosgrain band decorating it in the middle. Around the crown there is a matching purple grosgrain band ending in a bow at the back. There is veiling tucked inside the brim, and to finish this most elegant look, there is a very large purple ostrich feather. STUNNING! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.
