Royal Worcester Egg Coddler Cup Screw On Metal Lid Bird Collection Design

This Royal Worcester Egg Coddler is a white fireproof porcelain cup featuring a multi-colored hand painted bird pattern, Wren and Chickadees I believe. The cup is round with a screw on lid of metal either chrome stainless. Most likely the art work on this coddler is attributed to artist Eva Soper ( 1901-1990) She was a naturalist who created larger, more complex bird figurine models for Royal Worcester until the mid 1980s. The purpose of the coddler was to cook eggs gently, similar to poaching. These coddlers are considered charming and desirable collectibles, especially among enthusiasts of vintage dinner, ware and Royal Worcester pieces. Made by Royal Worcester, England stamped on the base. Measures 4 1/8 inch high. Without lid 3 3/4 inch. Diameter 2 1/2 inches. Nice condition, no chips or breaks.
