This scene is from Immervad Bridge in Jutland,which crosses a ford on an age-old road which connected Viborg in Northern Jutland with Dannevirke at the southern Danish border. By A.D. 950 during the rule of Gorm the Old, the first recorded king of Denmark, it was already a long estab- lished trade and military road.
