This is a vintage Robert Lee Fritz Studio blown art glass hanging ball decor from 1982. It is signed by RL Fritz and features a multicolor abstract design. Handmade in the United States, this decorative piece stands at 8 1/2" tall and weighs 1 lb 6 oz. It is an original production in blown glass, showcasing his amazing craftmanship.
This piece is a rare piece to find. I beleive it is to be hung by the three "handles on the top" below the sphere. I got it from an estate sale and it did have some fishing wire attached to those handles which I removed as they had been cut.
Hand crafted in Lombard, Illinois, at Fritz Art Glass Studio. He has been creating glass sculptures and paperweights since 1971.
He incoprates patterns of dichroic glass into much of his work. Every dichroic piece has a microsopic layer of a variety of materials includint tatanium silicon or magnecium, which reflects three distinct colors when viewed from different angles.
His works have not only been displayed across the US but has been received internationally as well. His freeblown glass is in the permanent collection of the glasmuseum in Ebeltoft, Denmark. He has also been featured in the Corning glass Museum in Hew York.
