What's it made of, and is it washable?

@sandrashugol great question. IKEA's site states it's made of 100% recycled polyester and should be washed by hand.

Care -Wash by hand, max 40°C.
Do not bleach.
Do not tumble dry.
Do not iron.
Do not dryclean.

What do you think would happen if I was to toss it in the washer and then let it air dry? Would it be destroyed?
I don't always have the time to wash things by hand.
