From the 1940s, these Philippine souvenir shoes were a favorite gift from WWII soldiers to their sweethearts back home. Hand-carved and painted wood soles in red and green with hand-embroidered pink fabric tops, Bakyâ or wooden clogs were once the most commonly used footwear in the Philippines. Made from local light wood like santol and laniti. The side of the bakyâ is thick enough and carved with floral, geometric or landscape designs, a unique method in Southeast Asia for the artist's application. The footwear is also used as gifts for weddings and a form of trophy for competition winners.
Minor wear. Sling fabric is pink. There is also some decorative stitching on the fabric sling. CANNOT confirm size but I'm guessing about an 8. You could be brave and wear them as platform rockabilly sandals or just a great shelf sitter!
I deal in eclectic vintage and gently used items and they are “ sold as is”. I try to note any obvious defects but items will have normal wear for their age. I've been an avid collector of everything imaginable but at my age it's time to pare down. I decided to give online selling a whirl. In addition to retro decor items, I have sprinkled in cool women's clothing, bohemian trinkets, ethnic textiles, retro kitsch, classic children’s wear and glittery bling. Tempt fortune and check out a designers nook....an emporium of curated eclectic Bohemia, bling and classics!

@jujuheartsvtg ....Hi, just measured and it looks as though it is 9 3/8" from heel to toe along the wood. If you have a wide foot and want to wear these I dont think they will work for you......They are pretty cool but for narrow feet. Otherwise they are a cool souvenir Philippine vintage piece.

@bohobuddhamama6 ok, that doesn’t sound like 8. 8 would be 9.75”. darn! they’re soo cute. thanks for measuring.
