Imagine exploring your great-great Grandfather's attic who was an old explorer/surveyor and finding this in his steamer trunk. This handmade item is a reproduction of a 1814 Optician's Magnifying Glass on wooden base finished in an antique brass. The wooden base has a beautiful "tiger's eye" graining as shown. Felt lined on the bottom . The antiqued reproduction measures 5" by 4" at the base and 8" tall when extended with a 3" magnifying glass.

1856 Company established by Edwin Watts[1]. He was twenty-three and had saved £100 from his earnings. His staff was one boy and his workshop a small room over a Bemondsey stable.
Watts' first order was from Negretti and Zambra for a mining dial. It was a source of pride to its maker.
