Bring home a unique piece of Oregon State history with this rare vintage Beavers mascot plush, likely made in the 1940s–1950s.
This charming beaver stands about 9 inches tall and features:
• Mohair-like fur typical of mid-century plush animals
• Older plastic googly eyes
• Felt tooth (there were two at one time, but one is missing)
• A wired faux leather tail with a wire inside to hold its shape
• A small real hardwood stick held in its front paws, posed as if chewing with a little chunk missing — a whimsical beaver touch!
• An orange felt “O” marking on the tail, connecting it to Oregon State University’s iconic Benny the Beaver mascot.
It has no maker’s tag, which is common for novelty mascot plush toys from this era — many were made in small batches for campus bookstores or local vendors.
Condition:
Good vintage condition for its age. Fur shows minor wear typical for mohair toys from the mid-century. Displays beautifully. Please see all photos for close-up details.

📌 Provenance Note:
A nearly identical beaver plush is documented on WorthPoint as a vintage OSU mascot from the 1940s–1950s. It also features a small hat, which is missing on the piece I’m selling, but the construction and design match exactly. These unique plush mascots were likely made in small batches and are rare survivors today — a wonderful find for OSU alumni, vintage plush collectors, or fans of college mascot memorabilia.
