Vintage Trifari early 1940s WWII era patriotic silver, enamel and crystal rhinestone small eagle brooch or lapel pin. It is signed on the back, " ES Pat." which stands for Design Patent. It is also signed Trifari. The patent was filed on July 26th, 1940, and issued on August 27th, 1940, by the designer, Alfred Phillipe. Alfred Phillipe was a renowned jewelry designer who became the head designer at Trifari in 1930 until his retirement in 1968. He had previously designed fine jewelry for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arples. His designs for Trifari are quite collectible today. The body of the eagle is set with a ruby red rhinestone with the wings feature tiny round sparkling stones with sapphire blue and clear skinny baguette stones underneath. The feet, beak and head are enamel, there is some wear to the enamel on the head and
and beak. In otherwise very good condition. Measurements 2 cm long by 1.8 cm wide3/4" long by 11/16" wide. It came to me in this jewelry box. This could be the original box that it came in.
