Provenance & Era:
This set comes from my family collection and may have originally been brought back by my uncle, who served overseas during World War II. Many Kutani porcelain novelty sets of this style were purchased by U.S. servicemen in Japan during and just after the war (Occupied Japan era, 1945–1952). The red stamp on the base — “Hand Painted Japan / Kutani-yaki (Yamazaki)” — is consistent with mid-20th-century export marks, placing this set in the 1940s–50s period.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with light age-related wear to gilt. No cracks, chips, or repairs. Whistle function works on both the bird spout decanter and all six cups.
