The kind of relic that looks like it crawled out of a fever dream and decided it was fabulous š„š„
Straight from 1950s Cuba, this isnāt your average ātextured leatherā situation.
Nope ā this is a full alligator torso with legs, hand-stitched into a clutch so bold it practically growls when you pick it up.
If you want something polite⦠keep scrolling.
If you want something that looks like it survived a mambo club, a revolution, and a sƩance?
Youāve found your beast:
⢠Genuine mid-century Cuban craftsmanship
⢠Statement piece that doubles as a conversation starter / familiarsā carrier
⢠For collectors, cryptkeepers, and anyone who wants their accessories to have teeth (metaphorically⦠mostly)
Carry it like a trophy. Display it like a relic. Live your best gothic-tropical fever-dream.
āØAll I know about this is that my father bought it for my mom before I was born - and she never used it, itās been stored since - Iām 40āØ
He had a way of acquiring odd things š¤
From what I can tell by searching online - these clutches are pretty rare, everyone has the purses. All the outer/inner stitching is pristine, snaps and zipper are perfect, but it appears what stitching that held the feet down is missing šš

@cavernata Do you know how/where your purse came from? That was the coolest part trying to figure that out from my mom. Like, weāve had it for 40 yrsā¦where was it the other 30??

@heidigg9089 I got mine at an estate sale about 20 years ago. They used to be more common to find. :)

@cavernata so cool š and even more interesting because it was before the trading ban with Cuba and all that craziness! The times these have survived!!

@cavernata there were quite few purse ones I checked on e bay - they were all going for much cheaper because they were in crappy condition - bottoms ripped, seams gone, etc. Havenāt found another listing for the clutch at all.

@heidigg9089 Yes, ours have been kept so well! So often without appropriate temperature and moisture control this stuff is falling apart.

@heidigg9089 I would def cross post this. It's so unique! And as mentioned, getting harder and harder to find. Yours is in awesome condition too.

@1stolive itās crazy cool, I only saw one person on here and they only have the purseā¦even e b ay only had purses up in crappy condition for like $2-300. Iāve had a few folks block me on here just because I have it up for saleā¦like itās a chunk of history at this point š

@heidigg9089 I love animals too. But as you say, these have been dead a long time. They are historic. I wonder if the PETA person wears leather shoes? Eats meat?
Oct 17Reply

1stolive
@heidigg9089 I do both. Yet I still love animals and want them treated humanely.

@heidigg9089 They worry about cruelty, yet let their pets roam not spayed or neutered.

Some of them. Certainly not all peta people.

@1stolive when you actually look at the numbers, peta shelters kill more animals per year than any other shelter š¤¦āāļø
