This three-piece coin collection includes three rare first year of issue coins: 1909 Lincoln Penny, 1883 Liberty Nickel, 1916 Silver Mercury Dime. The Lincoln Penny was first introduced in 1909 to commemorate the centennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth. For the first time since 1793, a circulating U.S. coin showed a recognizable portrait. The 1883 Liberty Head nickel is a classic in United States coinage. Minted from 1883 to 1912, the coin wore so well that they could still be found in circulation until the later 1940's. The 1916 Silver Mercury Dime was designed by renowned A.A. Weinman. Formally called the Winged Liberty Dime, this .900 Fine Silver coin got it's popular name from Liberty's resemblance to the head of Mercury shown on many Ancient Roman coins. Own a piece of history with this three-piece coin set. The coins come mounted and in a snap shut keepsake box with a certificate of authenticity.
