Rare 1960s Josefa Mexico Rainbow Ribbon Caftan
This is just an amazing piece of art-to-wear. Hand made in Mexico in the late sixties, maybe early seventies, this is the epitome of hippie chic. The design is based on a classic caftan this pairs light cotton with a linen like finish with an explosion of color and movement with those strands of multi-coloured ribbon applied to the front. A rainbow of colors are hand sewn into place with their ends left loose. When you move they move and create the most fabulous effect. Extra wide angel sleeves and a zip front that you can close to the neck or leave low, are the perfect finishing touches. Presents as excellent vintage condition!
Garment is unlined with a painted metal zipper front closure. There is a bit of patina to the fabric through out with some smudges of storage and foxing marks. Because of the brilliance of the ribbons and general "hippie" feel of the piece, these actually make it feel more authentic in a way.
Bust: 19" across from seam to seam - if this fits the rest should fit.
Length: Is 59" long from neck to hem
Modern Sizing Equivalent: OSFA (One Size Fits All)
