An awesome shoal of REAR Meiji Era Japanese ,hand painted ceramic fish, and they are beautifully crafted, and beautiful quality porcelain to, and I always appreciate when an item is fully crafted, ie the underside, they even have the scales underneath, very nice quality artwork within the interior of the fish, I don’t know if the pics are going to show just how deep and rich the blue is, so the condition is great, no damage or repairs, I believe these are late Meiji period c1900, to early twentieth century, the fish are different sizes one larger size at just under 5’ and four just under 4.5” in length.
These Chinese Export Blue and White Porcelain Fish Dishes were originally used on tables to collect fish bones from a meal. They are decorative depictions of fish and can be use for condiments today or as interesting pieces in a blue and white display.
