RARE Antique Schmelzer Hickory Putter #1

This rare club comes from Schmelrers which was a Kansas City company that went out of business in 1931. The clubs possibly over 100 years old!! It's a fantastic club and it takes an accuracy of stroke and gives a maneuverability modern putters could never produce. It gives a "feel" unlike other putters. It's in amazing shape for the age. It has a little string that I believe was attached to the grip but I REFUSE to try and reattach it for fear of causing adverse consequences to the value. It will be included of course for you or your expert to do with as you wish. I've had the putter for about 7 years and my golf days are over so it's time for a new custodian. Schmelzer’s was founded by John F Schmelzer, a German gunsmith from Oldenburg, who emigrated to Hartford, CT, in 1844 and worked in Colt’s Armoury. He moved to Leavenworth, KS, in 1857 shortly after the birth of his son Charles Joseph Schmelzer in 1856. From the age of 16 Charles worked in the West as a traveller for his father’s firm selling guns and ammunition from a wagon until moving to Kansas where the business became J F Schmelzer & Sons in 1887 on John’s retirement.
