RARE antique 1890's salad plate. Soft mint green, flowing gilt lines and layered white lilies give this antique French Limoges plate an easy Art Nouveau feel that works just as well on a wall as it does on a table. This 8.5-inch D&C France piece has a slightly thicker, “everyday luxe” weight, so it can serve as a small salad or dessert plate, an underplate for a plant or candle, or as a stand-alone accent in a French-inspired display.
Made by D & C France (Delinieres & Cie, Limoges), this backstamp in green was used in the late 19th century, around 1894–1900, placing the piece in the classic Limoges export era. The border design combines shaded green bands with strong gold striping and hand-painted water lily blossoms, a motif that sits neatly between late Victorian and early Art Nouveau tastes. The gold remains bright and the colors read clearly, so the pattern still catches the light nicely when displayed.
Size:
• Diameter: approx. 8.5 in (21.5 cm)
• Profile: slightly thicker, sturdy porcelain plate
Condition:
• Very good antique condition for age
• No chips or cracks noted
• Surface shows only light signs of use on close inspection (minor utensil marks and very slight rubs to the gold in spots)
• Backstamp: green “D & C / FRANCE” underglaze mark (Delinieres & Cie, Limoges)
