Condition:
Fair condition w/visible signs of wear including loose pages, minor creasing, wear on spine, & some small spots. Please see all photos for details! The glue hasn’t help preserve this title for posterity, to see the double page spreads the book had to by fully opened, causing the 40+ years old glue to crack & pages to come loose.
About:
The Roxy, situated at 41-43 Neal Street Covent Garden was London’s most famous Punk club & ran from January 1977-April 1977. It was situated in a converted warehouse w/the bar upstairs & the stage in the basement. A memorial plaque was unveiled on 25th April 2017 to mark forty years since closing.
A one of a kind compilation book featuring photos, stories &
collage art of the original punk bands such as The Buzzcocks, The Heartbreakers, The Stranglers, The Damned, Eater, The Clash, Slaughter & the Dogs, The Rejects ect. As well as New Wave and post-punk groups such as Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Slits, The Police, Wire, Squeeze & more. Although The Sex Pistols’ rehearsed across the street, they never performed at the club but members were feature in the book hanging out.
Originally published in 1978 by Big O Ltd. It was essentially a Derek Ridgers’ photo book, along with Humphrey Murray contributions. With additional material from Richard Braine, Crystal Clear, Steven Davis, Peter Kodiak & Ralf Jedraszczyk.
