@fireandash09 depends on how tall your child is. my 8 yr old was already wearing 10 :) while my 5 yr old boy wears a 4t.
i never even opened. Therefore, i can't really tell you whether it stretches or not. but if your 8 yr old is tall, the dress will be short. Disney store merchandise runs pretty accurate.
