Offered here is a unique Pre-Columbian style terracotta figure from West Mexico, most closely associated with the Nayarit or Colima shaft tomb culture. Measuring approximately 8" high, 4 1/4" long at the base, and 3 1/4" wide at the base, this vintage kneeling figure displays the classic features of ancient West Mexican ceramics, including an exaggerated headdress, expressive facial features, and arms resting on bent knees.
* Handmade pottery, original vintage artifact
* Believed to derive from the ancient Nayarit or Colima cultures, 300 BCE–300 CE
* Typical burial or votive figure, with a time-softened surface and natural mineral deposits
* Figure features a repaired neck (see photos for close-up detail); displays old crack but remains stable
* Substantial patina and encrustation consistent with excavation
* No provenance or documentation included; age and region based on stylistic assessment
* Sold as shown, please see all photos for condition
* A rare find for any collector of ancient American ceramics, Mesoamerican artifacts, or ethnographic art
Please note:
This piece is being sold as-is, for display or study purposes only. Because of the visible repair on the neck, some restoration is present. See all provided photos for a complete appreciation of its form and condition.
