Pheasant Feather Hat / MCM High Fashion or Costume Hat of Black & Brown Feathers


This amazing hat was made as a high drama/ high fashion hat in the 1950s. You can wear it that way, as intended by the designer, but I think it would also be a fabulous headpiece with which to top off a fantasy costume. It is 5" high at the front plus an extra bit of height from the way it curves upward on the top so it adds a total of about 6" to the wearer height! Thus, for example, if one is 5'6" tall wearing this hat she appears to be 6" tall, then add 3" heels or shoes with both platform soles and high heels for an extra 5" or 6" and one can easily appear to be way over 6 feet tall. What fun! It creates an immediately commanding presence! 

It is beautifully made by expert MCM New York millinery designer B. Michaels on a burgundy colored 100% wool base that was professionally blocked to its dramatic high shape, then covered with real solid black feathers that swirl around in a circular manner on the top, then circle around the sides with brown and iridescent green pheasant feathers beautifully arranged around the brim. All these feathers are naturally shiny and catch the light in amazing ways. This is truly a feather crown. It is sleek and gorgeous! Condition Excellent Size : a larger hat / will fit Unisex . 22 is average size - this is a bit larger. I will say up to 23" If you need to make it fit more snugly inside bands that do not show can be put under the grosgrain ribbon to tighten up the fit. - available at hat shops and online.
