A Bit of History:
On Austrian porcelain plates, PSL stands for Pfeiffer & Lowenstein, the name of the factory that made the porcelain. This factory, also known as Imperial PSL, was located in Schlackenwerth, Bohemia, Austria. The mark was used by the factory from approximately 1901 to 1938
Pfeiffer & Lowenstein was a porcelain factory founded in 1873 in Schlackenwerth, Bohemia now Ostrov, Czech Republic by Ludwig Lowenstein & Josef Pfeiffer. The company experienced success, & the name was changed to Pfeiffer & Lowenstein in the early 1900s under the management of Josef Pfeiffer Jr. During World War II, the Nazis seized the factory in 1938 & it permanently closed in 1949 after being nationalized & integrated into a larger Company.
