You end up getting so hot while skiing and snowboarding if you're going hard, so it is SO NICE to be able to zip your pants right open and breathe a little bit, especially if you're going inside at all in between hitting the slopes. SO convenient. They velcro AND zip also. These are used and reflect with signs of wear, namely some shreds on the exterior pant cuffs and ankle area, and some significant fading from all the times I'd wipe out while learning to snowboard. :P
