This was shortened at the hem? Do you think the seaming was done to give the option to get the dress back to its original length?

@ahlalavie Yes when I got it from the vintage shop it was cut and hemmed from the original length. So when I purchased it I had a professional hand crochet the hemline back for me to make it longer.
