Parrot Barber Working on Lion Ornament - JJ Grandville

The image of a parrot barber working on a lion's head refers to a well-known 19th-century illustration titled Parrot-hairdresser arranging the lion's mane by the French caricaturist J.J. Grandville. Description The colored engraving, from Grandville's 1854 work Les Métamorphoses du jour (Metamorphoses of the Day), depicts an anthropomorphized scene where a parrot, acting as a barber or hairdresser, is styling the mane of a lion. The lion is seated comfortably, often shown reading a newspaper, as the parrot meticulously works on its hair This ornament is glass and has ribbon to hang with. Ornament I believe is handmade. It’s about 5” across. There is a bubble mark on the glass. Looks like manufacture bubble. See photo. Tried to photograph! (See last photo) Rare! A1-2
