vocebella Hi what’s the clarity on the paraiba and is it natural and non treated? Also what is the carat weight on the diamonds? Thank you and merry new year

gemhunter3 @vocebella The Paraiba is earth mined and likely heat treated as most Paraiba tourmalines are. As it is not certified, I can not say the treatments or location with positivity. Chances are it is African mined. I can’t remember the exact carat weight of the Paraiba or the diamond weight. As per clarity, Paraiba doesn’t have the same rating scale as diamond, but I would say it’s slightly included as the copper that gives Paraiba its famous color.

gemhunter3 However, I can’t see any major inclusions. I may be able to find the receipt and let you know specifications, but it will take some time. I am only selling it because I have upgraded. I have been a gem collector for what seems like ages. The diamonds are an average VS clarity.

vocebella @gemhunter3 you are so lovely as to answer all this. However, paraiba don’t come from Africa…as you yourself said they are only from a specific area of Brazil. If this is from Africa, you can’t in good will call it a paraiba.

gemhunter3 @vocebella Paraiba was originally found in Paraiba Brazil, however veins were later found in Mozambique and Nigeria. The GIA accepts any blue or blue green copper bearing tourmaline as Paraiba. If it were Brazilian I would be asking at least 5x the price as the color from Paraiba Brazil is the original Find and typically brighter in color. It is perfectly acceptable by industry standards to call an African stone meeting criteria as Paraiba.

gemhunter3 @vocebella You are quite welcome. I have worked in the industry and been a collector for well over 10 years. Most of my products are earth mined stones and I will always identify anything that is a stimulant or lab created.
