This listing is for an exquisite pair of reticulated and gilded Rococo style ewers with a golden bird, flower and 1700's couple motif. Bottom of both pieces are marked with " 1386 Italy " with no other markings. (We therefore believe these to be older dating back to prior to laws requiring disclosure of "made in" information or made for Italian consumers rather than for export.) These ornate decorative ewers feature intricate reticulated (pierced) detailing and gold gilt accents typical of Italian ceramic craftsmanship. The pieces showcase elaborate scrollwork, floral motifs, and the characteristic colorful glazed technique of majolica, with these hand-painted details demonstrating skilled artisanship.
Especially as a pair in such wonderful condition, we feel these would be excellent statement pieces for creating period-inspired, opulent interiors with romantic, elaborate styling or as a crown to your collection.
Condition: Both pieces are in excellent, near new condition with no identified damage on either piece and almost total gilding still present (approximately 95% present). Very minor scratches in one little area that does not show up unless looking with magnifier and slight faded gilding on one bottom corner. See last image.
Note: There is a lamp hole in each that was apparently there from manufacture as hole is glazed. So, although we currently have the pair without lamp parts, the pieces may have started as or could become gorgeous lamps as another option for display
