Pair Antique Wang Hing Silver Bud Vases Repousse Chrysanthemum Flowers Chinese Export Silver Condition: Used, these have quite some tarnish and one dented area on the base of one vase. See final photo for a closeup. These silver bud vases feature intricate repousse chrysanthemum flowers and a Victorian-inspired design with tapered stems and scalloped edges. Retailer: Wang Hing. This was the trading name chosen by the Lo family and which operated from 1842 to 1941 in Canton, then later Hong Kong and Shanghai. They used artisans to craft their products and these silversmiths were recognized by having their name stamped next to Wang Hing's, but using Chinese characters. Zetland House, Wang Hing’s flagship store at 10 Queen’s Road, Hong Kong, which had opened in February 1937, was destroyed by bombing in 1941, only days after the Japanese invasion. The explosion destroyed all their stock along with all Wang Hing’s design archive and trading records. Silver quality/purity mark: 90 (90 standard, 900/1000) Character mark: Mark to indicate silversmith who produced the vases.
