Vintage Seascape painting by a Korean artist. Please see the signature and the description in the back:
Ilyup Chooh (Ilyeop Chu) born in Pusan, Korea, where he had his basic Oriental art training.
He came to the United States by way of Paris, France, where he studied portraiture and landscape under Gyere.
He is a graduate of the Otis Art Institute and the National Academy of Design of New York City.
In 1942, Mr. Chooh's painting "The Necktie Party", a symbolical painting of the end of the war, was chosen by President Roosevelt to hang in the White House during the celebration of the President's birthday party. The painting was then exhibited in various city over the United States.
Mr. Choo has traveled extensivelywhich has assisted him in developing an individual and unique style in character and interpretation.
Both, his Occidental and Oriental landscapes are in demand by private collectors and decorators in America, Europe and parts of the Orient.
