Lab created vs simulated: lab-created stones are real gems with the same chemical and physical properties as their natural counterparts, while simulated stones are imitations made from different materials that only look like the natural gem. So, if I purchase a piece of jewelry with a lab created stone, that stone when tested will result as an opal, diamond, sapphire, ruby......a lab created stone is the same chemical makeup!! Imitation Opals should not be referred to as Fire Opals. Fire opals are a natural real opal. Imitation Opals are synthetic opals. Opalite is usually a reference to opalite glass but sometimes common opals (opals without color flare) are referred to as Opalite. Just sharing information.
