Charming piece of nostalgia from the 1950 shōwa era. A sweet kokeshi topper with a charming expression has a head that bobbles on a wooden body sits atop a pencil. Kokeshi are small, handcrafted works of art, showcasing Japanese history, culture, folk-art and tradition. Simple in shape with delicate hand painted patterns with a mysterious charm that captivates. Kokeshi embodies protection and good fortune. Condition:
• Pre-Owned, Good Clean Vintage Condition. Kokeshi doll paint is in good condition. There are some marks, indentations. Pencil never sharpened. "Made in Japan' markers were used on wares from Japan exported to the US from 1921-1941 and 1945-1952.
