Back in the golden era of movie making, lobby cards were sent to theaters to promote an upcoming film. 8 dramatic scenes were chosen from each film to capture the public’s attention and, even though most movies were in black & white, these 11x14 inch lobby cards were lithographed in vibrant colors.
This is one of the original 8 lobby cards lithographed in 1946 for Orson Welles’ classic film noir “The Stranger”. It was made by the National Screen Service and the NSS number 46/668 in the lower right corner designates it was the 668th film in 1946 the National Screen Service printed promotional material for.
The lobby card measures 11x14 inches and is in good condition for its age. It has age discoloration, some light stains on the back, a small tear on the left side and some corner bends (see photos). The image itself is still nice and colorful after almost 80 years.
