It is a rare thing to find any promotional material for this classic 1948 Republic Pictures version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth starring and directed by Orson Welles. This is lobby card #8 from this film and shows Dan O’Herlihy and Peggy Webber as Macduff and Lady Nacduff. The NSS number 48-1382 in the lower right corner designates it was the 1382nd film in 1948 that the National Screen Service printed promotional material for.
This 11x14 inch original lobby card was printed on single-weight paper, unlike most other lobby cards which are printed on double-weight cardstock. For this reason, and the fact that it is 77 years old, it is not in the best of condition. The paper has yellowed a little, there are pinholes in each corner, there is a tiny tear on the left edge and minor creases here and there. On the back, there are four spots of tape residue - on one of them, a layer of paper is halfway torn off (see photos). I believe the lobby card would frame nicely if matted correctly. This is a rare opportunity to own an original piece of movie history from Orson Welles fifth feature film.
