O2 2011 JAMES A GARFIELD $1 COIN

This is a James A. Garfield Presidential $1 Coin, which was part of the Presidential $1 Coin Program launched by the U.S. Mint in 2007. The coin honors James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States. The program was established to honor U.S. presidents with a dedicated dollar coin for each one. The coin's obverse side features a portrait of President Garfield, while the reverse side depicts the Statue of Liberty. The inscriptions "E Pluribus Unum," the date of issuance (2011), and the mint mark are on the edge of the coin. Garfield's coin was the 20th in the series and was released into circulation on November 17, 2011.
