Norma Jean Ortiz Acoma N.M. Native Am Bowl Pottery New Mexico Signed Vintage Dated 10-21-01 Artist signed Pueblo pottery jar by Norma Jean of Acoma New Mexico. Ivory pattern with southwest design and corrugated/hand coiled detail. Norma Jean Ortiz has lived at Acoma Pueblo for most of her life. She supports herself and her daughter by creating pottery the way her Native American family has for over 1000 years. She mines the clay on the reservation, mixes it with old pottery fragments found in the hills and soak this in rain water. The colors for her paint come from wild spinach and ground-up limestone. The making of each piece takes two weeks or more. This piece measures approximately 5 in wide x 5 in tall. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Thanks for looking!
