"Bittereinder" is a board game published by Against the Odds Magazine that simulates the entire Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). Designed by Hjalmar Gerber and Paul Rohrbaugh, the game focuses on the conflict between the British Empire and the Boer Republics (the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek and the Orange Free State). The game features a full-color 22"x34" area map and 264 full-color 5/8" die-cut pieces. Players take on the roles of the British forces and the Boer forces, with the British aiming to defeat the Boers and the Boers striving to resist and maintain their independence. The game captures the strategic and tactical challenges faced by both sides during the war, including the bitter and protracted nature of the conflict.
