devgeek Thanks for your inquiry!! The jacket fabric is stretch, so could have 'grown' 1" in measuring... however, it allows for layering a vest or other jacket underneath. Some people are chestier too than others, is why I include the measurements. FYI-- I'll be putting my account on vacation hold in a week, as will be traveling for a month.
