The back of the boot looks pleated but when I stretched it, there was elastic under that part. The elastic helps for easier putting them on since they have no buckles, zippers, snaps or buttons. Ankle boots have about 3” heels and are flat in the front. Some scraps on right heel that were there when I bought them at the department store. Made in China of all man made materials.
