You can wear on shoulders or off. This has plastic straps that you can wear on your shoulders or off. It also comes with a bead packet. The beads are really fragile I noticed, I just had one strand fall off. I would suggest cutting them off and replacing them with something stronger you can get at Hobby Lobby or leaving them off altogether.
