Up for sale is a beloved authentic NWT Brand New with Tags HERMÈS Qu’importe Le Flacon 100% Silk Carre scarf. This fabulous carre was designed by a famous French artist Catherine Baschet and first issued in 1988. The design was so popular that it was later reissued in 1997, 2001, and 2003, with this scarf being the latest 2009 reissue in 70cm vintage silk. The title and subtitle of the scarf “Qu’importe le flacon Pourvu qu’on ait l’ivresse…” is translated from French as “It doesn’t matter which bottle, as long as one gets intoxicated”, and is a line from a poem by early 19th century French poet and playwright Alfred de Musset (1810-1857) about his lover, French writer and early feminist, Armantine Aurore Lucille Dupin (1804-1876), who wrote under the pen name of George Sand. While the line referred to both Armantine and drinking absinthe and wine, the artist substituted those with perfume flacons full of intoxicating aromas. The scarf is titled, featuring Hermès logo and copyright; the edges are hand rolled, and the original Hermès store and care tags are attached. The scarf comes in the original Hermès orange box with tissue paper.
