Anthems have been sung about it, basketball greats have graced its Barclays Center, and exquisite graffiti decorates North 6th, Moore and Wyeth Avenue. There’s plenty to love about Brooklyn, New York, and Nets star Kevin Durant has created a fitting tribute with his latest Nike basketball shoe. A base of black and grey knit informs much of the upper, complete with a black TPU-coated outline reinforcing the toe box. The balance of the upper centers on white graffiti-style graphics that make this shoe really pop against the dark backdrop, cleverly featuring symbols and words that have meaning for Durant. Hand-drawn basketballs, locks, hearts and words like “Hustle,” “Dedication” and “Hard Work” embellish the men’s shoe. The KD 15 isn’t purely black and white, however. Fuchsia laces, a sherbet orange sockliner and seafoam green branding and outsole go a long way toward making this a basketball sneaker that artfully balances fun with function. Speaking of performance, this KD shoe is lighter with fewer materials than previous editions to create a feel that’s easy to wear on court while minimizing distractions. Wings along the KD 15 shoe’s sides hold the foot in place, and a full cushioning system.
