The native mat is made by women weavers from the tribe of Bukidnon-Tagolwanen in Malaybalay. Passed on from one generation to another, this tradition entails persistence and meticulous workmanship which reflects tribal values and beliefs. Weaving is done mostly at night or whenever it is cool, such as rainy days. This is done so the material becomes more flexible and will not break.
