Mt Vernon was the family home of George Washington and Martha his wife since 1754. This pitcher would have fit in perfectly with the Flo Blue china pattern, that was popular. Unfortunately glassmaking came to Philidelphia in 1683, but lasted only a year. Most families bought glassware from overseas. The Pitcher is made from Cobalt glass and is very attractive and desireable.
