Mr. Blackwell Design Vintage 1950’s/60’s Raw Silk Navy White Dress RARE Size 4
This dress is stunning. I included measurements in pictures. I am normally a size 6 and cannot zip this. *I used AI to make a stock photo. There is no size tag and there are a few tiny imperfections. A tiny white spot mid rib cage and a few fabric pills…this is just due to the nature of raw silk. Also, the bow on the left side needs to be re-tacked which is a five minute fix. This is in absolutely incredible condition for its age. Does have a slight vintage smell and a little makeup on the top white part of bow. A trip to the dry cleaners would take care of that.
Zipper and eyehooks in back work perfectly, topped off by cute bow detail. Pleating in back slit to accentuate legs and curves
Brooklyn native, Richard Blackwell, has a long and varied resume in the world of fashion. He started working early on as a child actor appearing on broadway in his teens and later going on to study acting with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. He continued in the acting world until the mid 1940’s until he realized his fascination with costume design. Blackwell launched his debut line, Mr. Blackwell, in the late 1950’s. He dropped his first name in the style of Valentino, Versace, and others. His designs were theatrical with over the top embellishments. He favored leopard prints and large bows in his work and continued producing designs until the 1980’s.
