The dish is a piece of Moon & Stars pattern glass, likely produced by L.E. Smith or Weishar Enterprises. The "Moon & Stars" design was originally known as "The Palace" in the late 1800s, but the name changed as companies like L.G. Wright and L.E. Smith began reproducing the pattern.
Weishar Enterprises is a key name associated with this glassware:
In the 1960s, L.E. Smith contracted with Joseph Weishar of the Island Mold Company to produce new "Moon & Stars" pieces, using Weishar's molds.
Later, Weishar Enterprises introduced their own collectible line in 1993, which featured a subtle Weishar signature on the glass to distinguish it from earlier pieces.
Weishar still produces "Moon & Stars" glass today, often in new colors.
This specific blue dish is a classic item in the line.
In 1993 they introduced the Moon & Star Collectible Line, (which is full size). They are handmade in the USA from the original moulds, which have been altered slightly to include the Weishar signature. The signature is that of the late Joseph J. Weishar, the creator of the majority of the Moon & Star glass you have come to love and cherish over the years.
This is a new piece that has never been used and is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks. The emerald green color is bright and vibrant. Just stunning.
It measures 4 1/4 inches wide, 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch deep. Originally produced as an ashtray it has now become a trinket dish.
