Mixed Media Collage Art Signed G. W. Sewell Framed 3-D Shadowbox Without Glass

Mixed media 3-D shadowbox collage art entitled “Gently For Senses” by artist G. W. Sewell. Please note: The easel is for display purposes only and is not included with the artwork. The artwork has multiple layers of paper and found objects with a mat board frame glued on top of a wooden frame. There is no glass or front covering. There is an artist’s statement paper affixed to the reverse. It includes the Title of Work, Medium and the artist’s signature. The artwork is not dated, but there is an “eBay” entry on the newspaper stock market list seen in the background, which would date this piece to 1998 or later. Condition is used. There is some staining on the reverse paper. The handwritten Title of Work and Artist’s Signature has faded. The mat-board frame has some creasing and edge wear with corner bumping. Measures approximately 8” x 10 inches and 7/8” depth. “Gavin Sewell (b. 1980) is a contemporary North American artist known for his intricate, novelistic mixed-media pieces and wall sculptures. Sewell studied under Maine artists Alan Bray and Roderick Slater while attending classes at the Portland School of Art and Colby college. His work has been supported by the Durst Organization, the Chashama residency program, the Arts Council of Canada, the New York Foundation for the Arts, Kasini House and Kolaj Magazine among others.”
