This masterfully crafted sterling silver and enamel treasure box (called ("kumkuma" or "müceher kutusu") was plucked from a little shop in the labyrinthine alleys of Istanbul's Grand Bazaar in the 1990s. The intricate mandala-style design features a mesmerizing starburst flower at its center, where thin silver walls (called cloisons) create cells filled with vibrant royal blue and emerald green enamel, elegantly accented in black. The sides carry this artistry forward with a continuous band of stylized quatrefoil flowers. Inside, a surprising chartreuse enamel interior adds an unexpected flair.
